School throws a wrench into everything
Here I am all ready to blog at least every week and what have I been doing? Well, I guess I can't blame it all on school, seeing that I've recently been invited to join the crack that is Ravelry but I certainly can try because I'm so sick of it and just want to graduate, dammit! *ahem*
That mess of supplies in the previous post ended up being my Halloween costume of a unicorn...yes, you can all shut up now. I kind of ended up being a punk unicorn, although someone had the nerve to call me emo so I stabbed them with my horn. If only... Being such drunks, I wasn't able to get a good picture of myself that night, so I took one at work. Everyone there already knows I'm not at all right.
I used the pattern for Naughty Needles' Giddy-Up Pony Hood, slightly modified for a less S&M vibe of course. I got booed out of a costume contest where the semi-naked walking boobs won. Ok, the costume itself wasn't a pair of walking boobs, because that would've been quite funny.

My Biology teacher can't even pronounce 'biology'...
He handed out this nine-page booklet about the scientific method and he insisted on reading all of it, sounding out and saying half of the words wrong. Ok. So he seems like he's a great teacher and he's funny, but why can't schools seem to get teachers who know the language?!

Just passing on through
Well, my doctor wouldn't let me keep my kidney stone...something about having a lab check it out. I really wanted to have it set in a ring. Haha...that was such a hell to go through and the ambulance ride sure was painful. But I did get yet another bottle of Vicodin out of the ordeal.
Lake Geneva went off without a hitch, fight, or melt-down within the family, meaning two whole days out of August were nice. With all of the shit that has come upon us in the last 31 days, I've been more than a bit depressed. I have all these ideas for projects - felted objects, ceramics, etc., but not even enough of an urge to jot them down.
My Biology Lab class starts tomorrow. Whoo! No more general electives. I have no idea why I've waited so long to take this measly little one credit class, esp. when all the freshly graduated high schoolers will be infiltrating the school. Plus the teacher can barely speak english. This ought to be fun.

Knitting at a Funeral
So, my papa passed away. It's for the best since he was in so much pain. The wake/funeral is tomorrow and Friday. It's going to be a little strange because my family celebrates a person's life during these things and we have no idea how his side of the family are. Not like we've gotten looks and comments thrown our way before.
Seeing that we're going to be there for over 12 hours, I know for a fact that I'm bringing my second 'sock of depression' with to work on. The first was knit while he was in the hospital and now the second will most likely be almost finished by the weekend. I probably won't be wearing these anyways. The one has a few accidental 'eyelets', some wonky picked up stitches, and a toe that I may have sewn a bit sideways. But they are nice to look at.

Fucking cancer
I've spent the last week watching my grandpa fall apart from his last chemo treatment. So much that he won't be able to continue with the treatments and now has pnuemonia and that is what's gonna kill him. I've been using the 'waiting room time' to teach myself sock knitting on DPNs. The first one turned out great, although whenever I see them I'll remember this...

So where the hell have I been?!
I love that I never followed up with the fact that almost all of the yarn in the previous post is gone. Along with about 50 more skeins from my stash. I've been so busy cranking out (mostly) hats. Here's my tally so far:
For charity:
*46 hats
*2 animal blankets
*11 baby bibs
*3 scarves
*21 blanket squares
For myself/others:
*A scarf
*A baby sweater and hat
*A head wrap
I have a trip coming up soon -- OMG what projects should I take???! And classes are starting the beginning of September. Plus I have a new Etsy store that needs stuff in it...argh! Pictures will come soon, along with more frequent posting. How many times have I told myself that and NOT done it? I promise if I don't you can beat me up.

The dreaded before
I would like to see how much of this I can deplete by the end of the month. (NOT a goal...) I've been knitting Warm Up America squares for a while and now it's time to dedicate a period of time just for chemo caps.
Cancer runs rampant in my family. I feel like I need to do something.

It is what it is
I had three goals for March. They weren't completed. Then again, I managed to learn chainmail, knit up seven items for Crafting for a Cause, a actually find time to read a book. None were on that list.
Now I'm only sticking with long-term goals. Continuing to think positively, finishing school, helping more people, opening a gallery.
Everything until then can just happen as it may.
